Great Witchingham is about 10 miles N.W. of Norwich.
It includes the village of Lenwade.

In 1883 the parish was in the Deanery of Sparham, in the archdeaconry of Norwich.
The parish church of Great Witchingham is dedicated to the
Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The church at Lenwade is dedicated to St Faith.
It was formerly the Mission Church of All Saints, and this dedication
was transferred to it when the Little Witchingham building became
redundant.
For the civil registration of births, marriages and deaths between 1837
and 1930 (and for the censuses from 1851 to 1901), Great Witchingham
was in
St Faith's Registration District.
