Parish Register Extracts
This has been found by the Norfolk transcribers for FreeREG, in the
East Walton parish register of baptisms 1813-1905. It is inserted at
the top of the page for 1861/62.
White's Directory of Norfolk for 1845 shows that the curate was
Rev. Charles Jones Denton, M.A.
White's Directory of Norfolk for 1864 shows that the curate was
Rev. James Coldham, M.A.
The Yorkshire parish is really Askham Richard.

Mr Denton was the curate for many years. JMC appears to be the new curate.

Mr Denton lived here with his 2 maiden sisters. They were a most worthy
trio, full of quaint old fashioned ways. Of Welsh origins, the old ladies
made yearly visits to Wales in their simple donkey-carriage; stopping
en route at farm houses and friends houses. Mr Denton late in
life became Incumbent of a Yorkshire parish (Ascombe
Bichard ?[sic]). He came in 1839 and so lived here during 24 years.
I have heard his claim to a Peerage was deemed a very strong one but
he cd not afford to contest it.
