Trowse Newton is about 1 mile S.E. of Norwich.
It is also known as Trowse and Trowse-with-Newton.
Trowse Millgate, Carrow and Bracondale are in this parish, but are north of the river Yare and are hamlets of Norwich.

After 1834 Trowse Newton became part of the Henstead Union, and the workhouse was at Swainsthorpe.
