"A true Copie of the legacie geven by Elizabeth Richman to thuse of
the poore of the p[ar]ish of Hedd[e]nh[a]m 27 Mai Ao dm 1583
Itm I geve and bequethe unto the poore people of Heddenh[a]m the some of fower pounds of lareful Inglysh money to be bestowed upon Twentye Ewes wch I will shalbe letten out to ferm wth consideracon of the safetie & continuance of the stock to co[n]tinue for ever. And the farme of the said Ewes to be distributed every yere unto thuse of the poore people of Heddenh[a]m according to their nede upon the said day of the moneth yearely that I shallbe buried [wch is the xxvii of Maye] & this to begin within two yeres after my departure. Provided that this legacie of these shepe shalbe in this forme viz that they shalbe letten by the Churchewardens of the Towne of Heddenh[a]m from three yeres to iii yeres unto some sufficient & able ma[n] that shall with a sufficient suretie be bound both for the shepe & farme & shall continue in no mans hand above thre yeres together, and I will that p[re]sently after my decease the whole clause of this bequest in this or better forme shalbe copied into the register book of Heddenh[a]m for the more suretie of co[n]tinuance and assurance." |
