HARGHAM parish, 1 mile N. from Eccles Road station, and 3 miles S.S.W. of Attleborough, is in Wayland union, Attleborough county court district, Norwich bankruptcy district, Guiltcross and Shropham petty sessional division, Attleborough polling district of south Norfolk, Rockland rural deanery, Norfolk archdeaconry, and Shropham hundred.
It had 70 inhabitants in 1881, living on 1136 acres, and has a rateable value of £1905 5s., all the property of Sir Thomas Beevor, Bart., D.L., J.P., who resides at Hingham, and lets the hall, as a shooting-box, to William Betts, Esq., Diss.
The CHURCH (All Saints), which had long been dilapidated, and only a small part used for divine service, was restored in 1874, at a cost of £500. Its detached and ivy-clad tower, now in ruins, has a picturesque appearance.
The rectory, valued in the King's Book at £4 4s. 2d., is consolidated with Wilby, and of joint yearly value of £380. John Goodacre, Esq., is the patron, and the Rev. Francis Purges Goodacre, Wilby, is incumbent.
